The lamento theme is the initial departure of Elegy In Me which which creates a connection with the Mendelssohn’s string quartet no. 6 op. 40 paired in the same program.
The background narrative of Elegy in Me works with human emotions and conditions that are erupted when facing death. The various emotions, and their reflections and abstractions are juxtaposed and superimposed in contrasting compositional styles throughout the musical journey.
